Harry Dean Stanton Has Passed Away

Prolific actor Harry Dean Stanton has passed away at the age of 91 of natural causes on Friday in Los Angeles. He recently appeared in the Twin Peaks revival on Showtime, and his latest film, Lucky, will be released on September 29th. He still has one more credit in post-production. Stanton's first role as a leading man was in 1984's Paris, Texas when he was 58. Roger Ebert said of his performance, “Stanton has long inhabited the darker corners of American noir, with his lean face and hungry eyes, and here he creates a sad poetry.”

Stanton appeared in many movies and television shows in his long career, including Alien, Pretty in Pink, and Big Love. In addition to his acting career, Stanton was a musician, fronting the Harry Dean Stanton Band. Stanton even sang at Hunter S. Thompson's funeral. Stanton was a lifelong bachelor. Read his full obituary at Variety.

Blind Gossip Exclusive Blind Item - Fake Production Problems

Well, this is certainly not going as planned!

Hey, it’s no secret that tickets to see this popular singer live have been selling poorly. However, what they are trying to hide is the fact that they are actually cancelling entire shows because of it!

"Of course we can’t admit that. So we are just going to say that we have to cancel because of “production problems”, even though the venues are fine."

Seems the only real problem is that the public is not as interested as they used to be in buying tickets to watch this legendary singer perform!

Popbitch Blind Item - Lazy Leading Lady

It’s quite common for stunt doubles to basically fill in as understudies for big-name Hollywood stars on set – but which A-lister went one step further? Not only did she have her stunt double do most of the work during filming, she also had her pose for the movie’s promo posters, too (then had her own features added on digitally in post production)...

Meg Ryan Talks Tresses, Internet Shaming, and the End of Privacy

Meg Ryan recently penned an essay for InStyle about her famous hair. Here is an excerpt:

"It’s funny having famous hair. It’s funny to have famous anything, for that matter. Fame has a half-life. It’s sort of like radioactivity—long after the original offense, you still feel the effects. The Internet has complicated the situation, but I’ve found that I can avoid news of myself by employing almost exactly the same skill set I use for not looking in mirrors.

It’s a type of precision-controlled aversion well worth mastering, even if a bad-hair day does slip in, which is bound to happen. But so what? It’s nice being oblivious to the general skinny on yourself. Why bother with it? A general skinny has a life of its own, which is pretty much immune to management anyway.

I’m not exactly expert at ignoring myself, though, because news about me occasionally does waft in. For instance, I am aware that I once had a famous haircut. I know this mostly because I still see it on people in New York. Occasionally, it suits the person sporting it but mainly not, because it was the ’90s after all, and its time has passed.

I also know this because Sally Hershberger, the stylist who put it on my head to begin with, told me so. Apparently, there were years and years when people would come to her with crumpled magazine pages and expect to leave her salon with the same cut as mine. She obliged as much as she could, but in some impossible cases—namely, for super-straight or very curly hair—she would have to deny the request. You can’t please everybody.

...Anyway. I got the famous haircut mostly by accident—in French Kiss I played a character stranded in Paris without luggage, money, or a place to live, so it was a stretch to think she had much opportunity to shampoo. Sally had to figure out hair that looked bad but sort of good all at once. While we were working it out during the camera test, she punctuated some remark she was making by pulling the curling iron way over her head. A sizable chunk of my hair had singed off and was still wrapped around the iron. I noticed the flame first. For a second Sally looked like the Statue of Liberty: frozen, torch aloft, and a little green. You can’t really blame her for the iron’s overheating because of the different voltages in Europe. She was left to scissor away until we got what we got.

As I said, I’ve been pretty good at ignoring my public self, but not great. The Internet makes it hard. You can be minding your own business for years and years, as I have, and suddenly come across a ghastly picture of yourself eating a sandwich you would otherwise never have remembered. Or you find any number of bad-hair days immortalized as if they’re interesting. Happily for celebrities, though, the Internet has democratized humiliation—it’s the end of privacy for everybody now, so ha!!

Those of us who were famous in the ’90s had time to ramp up and get used to being publicly humiliated. When a wire service picked something up, it was the early version of going viral. I remember having a chat on camera with a reporter who wanted to talk about my hair because he said he thought it looked marvelous. A nice-enough observation but hard to turn into an actual conversation no matter how good your sense of humor is, particularly if you’re tired. Anyway, I guess I sighed and didn’t play along, and my perceived snottiness was picked up by all the wire services. That’s the least of it, really, but you know what I mean. The Internet has a way of siphoning off context, which is partly why it succeeds so well in being a shame machine. I was only kidding about being happy that social media is now an equal-opportunity shamer. It’s very sad, particularly for the kids.

...Meanwhile, I forgot to point out something important, something having famous hair in the ’90s would teach anybody. I speak only with the authority of a person who can still see her haircut from 20 years ago on a stranger, that is to say none, but life is more fun when you’re less interested in what other people think of you. It’s the end of privacy for everybody, and times are fraught, but I’m grateful for having learned this. It’s sort of the chocolate on the pillow of the whole shebang."

Kelly Clarkson Wants Nothing To Do With Dr. Luke

Kelly Clarkson is making the rounds promoting her new album. She recently stopped by Z100 for an interview with Mo' Bounce, where she had this to say about Dr. Luke (who is famously involved in the never-ending Kesha lawsuit), as reprinted by E! News:

"There's a lot of times in my career where you don't see my name on a song. Sometimes I don't write them, but a lot of times I do change the song in a way that probably you should ask for credit, but I don't because the song was already great. I just made it more me and I think a lot of artists steal credit a lot from writers, which I think is super crappy because that's their livelihood.

I did deserve it on that song [with Dr. Luke] just because I changed it a bit, but I really just didn't—especially at that time, I was so frustrated that I was forced to work...basically, they were going to sit on my record unless I did what they wanted and I was so frustrated because I literally said, 'Anyone in the world but [Dr. Luke]. I will work with anyone you want to put in my path.'

I just had a negative experience. The guy is super talented. I'm not negating that. That's a fact, obviously...I don't want my name near his. I don't even want—I want to pretend this didn't happen in my life and I want to forget it.

There's hundreds of thousands of dollars gone because of that...or millions actually. That song was huge. I was making a point to the people working with me going, 'This is how much I didn't want to do this.' I don't care about the money. I don't care about, 'Oh, you're going to be the most famous person ever if you do this.' That's not what holds weight in my life."

Marilyn Manson is Feuding With Justin Bieber

This is the feud that I never knew that I needed in my life! So last year, Justin Bieber wore a repurposed Marilyn Manson shirt and said that he made Marilyn Manson relevant again. Here's what Manson had to say to Consequence of Sound about that assertion:

[Manson says that when he first met Bieber “he was [already] wearing the shirt that had his name on my shirt, and he said to me, ‘I made you relevant again.'” “Bad mistake to say to me,” Manson adds.

“The next day I told him I’d be at his soundcheck at Staples Center to do ‘Beautiful People’,” Manson recounts, at which point Bieber confessed that the t-shirt “was his idea.” Manson never intended to perform with Bieber, but “he believed that I’d show up, because he was that stupid.”

Manson says he eventually “took all the proceeds from those shirts from him. They didn’t even fight, they were just like, ‘yea, we already know, we did wrong, so here’s the money.’

“He was a real piece of shit in the way he had the arrogance to say that,” Manson says of Bieber. “He was a real touchy-feely guy, too, like, ‘yo yo bro!’ and touches you when he’s talking. I’m like, you need to stand down, you’re dick height on me, ok? (laughs) Alright? So stand down, son.”]

Marilyn Manson's new album Heaven Upside Down drops October 6th.

Blind Gossip Exclusive Blind Item - Hot New Secret Couple

Let’s talk about this hot new secret couple!

The man in this couple is a handsome, law-abiding actor on a TV drama. He used to quietly date his female costar on the show.

Another pretty actress joined the cast.  She has starred on several TV shows and has been through several high-profile relationships. She had been dating someone for the past year or so.

Lawman and Pretty got along well. Very well.

Female Costar started fighting on the set over how friendly Lawman was getting with Pretty.

Then Pretty broke up with her boyfriend… and Female Costar quit the show!

Well, it turns out that Female Costar had a good reason to suspect that the friendship was more than a friendship… because Pretty and Lawman have been secretly dating for months!

They have been dating since February of this year. He goes to her apartment in [redacted]. They just do simple things together like order food for delivery and walk the dogs and hang out. They try to keep it very low key but they are definitely a couple.

Did their romance break up TWO couples? We don’t know… but the timing of Pretty’s recent breakup with her boyfriend and Costar’s recent quitting sure raises a few questions!

Harrison Ford Talks Punching Ryan Gosling And Other Hobbies

Harrison Ford is profiled in this month's GQ. Here are some highlights from the interview:

On becoming a carpenter after reading some books:
Surely it wasn't really that simple?
“Well, yes and no. I knew how to run the tools. I knew how to cut a straight line. I cared that it was straight—which was the biggest part of it. My dad had a little workshop in our basement and we'd done some work together. I watched him cut his finger off one day down in the basement.”

Seriously?

“Yeah. So there was a good lesson. He was cutting a sheet of plywood on a little table saw and it kicked back and”—Ford holds up the middle finger on his right hand—“he'd cut off this finger and”—now Ford holds up his forefinger—“came halfway through.”

He lost the middle finger permanently?

“Yeah. Actually, I did pick it up and wrap it in Kleenex and put it in my pocket, but when I got to the hospital—we went there in the back of a police car—I handed it to the emergency-room surgeon, who went and threw it in the bin.”

How old were you?

“Probably about 16.”

Were you traumatized by it?

“No, I wasn't traumatized by it.” He laughs. “It wasn't my finger.”

How was your dad?

“He was stoic. Irish.”

Ford explains that his father's half-severed forefinger healed at an angle, which gave young Harrison a new opening.

“Every time after that, he would point at me”—Ford mimes someone brandishing a bent forefinger in reprimand—“and I would look where his finger was pointing. It used to piss him off.”

Again, Ford halts himself. It's occurred to him that in recounting this tale, he has pointed his finger at me in a certain manner, and he is well aware that finger-pointing is considered one of his on-screen signatures.

“I know you're thinking, ‘Ah, that's where it comes from!’ ” he says. “I'm not aware of doing it.”

On Carrie Fisher's memoir, in which she revealed that the two had an affair:
How strange for you was it when Carrie Fisher put out her ‘Star Wars’ book?

“It was strange. For me.”

Did you have any advance warning?

“Um, to a degree. Yes.”

And what did you think?

“Oh, I don't know. I don't know. You know, with Carrie's untimely passing, I don't really feel that it's a subject that I want to discuss.”

Can I ask you whether you'd prefer that it hadn't been written?

“Yes. You can ask me.”

Do you want to answer?

“No.”

Can I ask you whether you read it?

“No. I didn't.”

On punching Ryan Gosling in the face:
“I punched Ryan Gosling in the face,” Ford confirms. Then he adds, by way of clarification, that “Ryan Gosling's face was where it should not have been.”

Explain further, if you will.

“His job was to be out of the range of the punch. My job was also to make sure that I pulled the punch. But we were moving, and the camera was moving, so I had to be aware of the angle to the camera to make the punch look good. You know, I threw about a hundred punches in the shooting of it, and I only hit him once.”

So he should be grateful?

“I have pointed that out.”

And the one that did connect—that's 100 percent his fault?

“No.” Ford makes as though he's carefully weighing this. “I mean, I suppose it's 90 percent his fault.”

That is very—

“—generous of me.”

He said you went to his dressing room with a bottle of scotch…

“I did.”

…and poured him a glass, then walked out with the bottle.

“Yeah? What—did he fucking expect the whole bottle? You know, I figured one drink would fix it. That was enough.”

Blind Gossip Exclusive Blind Item - Zero Support From Her Label

Want a glimpse behind the scenes of a famous recording artist’s fight with her label? Of course you do!

This singer is in a tough position. Her label won’t pay for her to do a new album… but they won’t release her from her super strict contract, either!

"She is getting zero support from her label because her last album didn’t make a profit. The label and the distributor aren’t going to pay for another one. They’d have to put up at least another $800K ($150K for recording costs, $250K for a video, $400K for marketing), plus $600K for distribution.

She can’t go to a competitor either. Her contract with the label is iron clad. She is stuck doing features and small gigs until the distributor gets paid back and the label gets paid back. She is pulling PR stunts and starting feuds to keep her name relevant and get more features."

So, before she can record another album, our girl is going to have to pull some stunts to make some money and pay back the people who backed her!

Louis CK Refuses To Address Those Allegations

Louis CK recently sat down for an interview with the New York Times to promote his new film I Love You, Daddy. Here are some highlights from that interview:

On the premise of his new film:
“There are these people in the world that we all talk about, and we want to know that they’re all good or they’re all bad. The uncomfortable truth is, you never really know. You don’t know anybody. To me, if there was one thing this movie is about, it’s that you don’t know anybody.”

On the rumours of sexual misconduct with female comics:
“I’m not going to answer to that stuff, because they’re rumors. If you actually participate in a rumor, you make it bigger and you make it real...They’re rumors, that’s all that is.”

On Tig Notaro telling him publicly that he should "handle" those rumours:
“I don’t know why she said the things she’s said, I really don’t. I don’t think talking about that stuff in the press and having conversations over press lanes is a good idea.”

I’m like, ‘Guy’s I’m sixty-fucking-five.’ Audiences are eventually going to go, ‘Come on.' I’ve shot one that’s going to come out in January sometime. There might be another. That’s it. This musician led a very famous group in the 1970s and 1980s. He is such rock royalty that he only needs one name.

With a notable roommate.

The roommate is a very beautiful, under-30 actress with a royal pedigree. She was on a series last year, but that gig is over. She has managed to land a couple of other major projects, though, so you will be seeing her on the big screen soon.
