Shiloh Star Blake Heron Has Passed Away

Blake Heron, a former child actor who starred in the 1996 film Shiloh, has passed away at the age of 35. Heron was found unresponsive at his La Crescenta, California home on Friday morning. Cause of death has yet to be determined; Heron was said to have told friends that he had been sick with the flu for a few days. Heron guest starred on a few TV series, including Boston Public, Family Law, and The Guardian. Read his full obituary at Variety.

Two Country Stars Passed Away

A few sad passings to report this morning. First up, Page Six reports that Country star Troy Gentry died yesterday at the age of 50 in a helicopter crash. His band's rep released the following statement: “It is with great sadness that we confirm that Troy Gentry, half of the popular country duo, Montgomery Gentry, was tragically killed in a helicopter crash which took place at approximately 1:00pm today in Medford, New Jersey.” The pilot of the helicopter also died in the crash. Gentry is survived by wife of almost 20 years Angie and their two daughters.

Yesterday also saw the loss of country music's gentle giant Don Williams, who passed away at the age of 78 after a short illness. Williams had 17 number 1 hits during his career. Instead of touring, Williams spent most of his time on his farm near Nashville. He previously said this in a 1994 interview: “It’s one of those blessings and curses kind of things. If you have the talent, it’s a blessing. But there’s times that … a lot of the prices that you have to pay to be a part of it is a curse. But as far as … the way people have responded to what I’ve done, there’s very few things in my life that I’ve done that come anywhere close to making you feel exhilarated and humbled and fulfilled and challenged and all that, all at the same time.” Williams is survived by his wife Joy, sons Gary and Timmy, three grandsons and one granddaughter. David Copperfield, Magician: I’m not kidding, this is a real offer: I can make you disappear and reappear anywhere in the world. Where do you want to go, and why?
Rihanna: "Ten minutes before I lost my virginity…and I’m holding you to that offer. LOL."

ELLE: When did you first wear lipstick?
Rihanna: "Lipstick always got me in trouble. Whether it was at home as a kid, or my early teenage years in my career, I always had the urge to wear it. So I broke all those rules. Now lipstick is like my li’l secret weapon!"

These two women are both TV actors. They frequently work for the same scary producer but are now on separate TV shows. They were both at the Emmys last night. One had an interesting comment about the other’s metallic fashion choice.

"[Actress 2] was a few feet away when [Actress 1] said to the people next to her, “I’m off carbs, but does anybody else have a sudden craving for a baked potato?” and then laughed. She didn’t say it to [Actress 2]’s face though. [Actress 2] came over and they hugged and [Actress 1] told her how much she loved her dress. What a hypocrite!"

Blind Gossip Exclusive Blind Item - Poppy Man Details

We’re going to call this musician Poppy Man. Not because he’s a father… but because he loves his poppy products!

Want to know the little details of his most recent OD? Of course you do!

"It was an opiate overdose. It’s happened before. This time it was codeine and Vicodin.  The other stories you are reading are not true. The epilepsy is just a cover story. He does have seizures, but only when he’s doing drugs. He was out of the hospital within one day."

You can ignore the stories that try to throw bogus medical conditions or other substances into the mix.

We’ve told you before and we’ll tell you again: Poppy Man loves his poppy products (codeine, pain pills, heroin). They are the cause of his medical emergencies. His family and friends know this, but they cannot force him to go into rehab and to stay there.

A Profile on Lady Gaga

V Magazine recently did a profile on Lady Gaga. Here are some highlights from that interview:

On her latest album, Joanne:
“For me, Joanne, in the simplest terms, it’s the classic stories of our lives that help us return to who we really are, no matter how lost we get. You can always go back to a loss, or the pain of a pending loss, or a challenging struggle in your family life, or your childhood. And when you go back to that place, it somehow brings you back to where you were in the beginning. And for me, that’s what writing this album was all about. Because after The Fame Monster and subsequent albums, I felt that there was a part of me that was connecting on a human level with the public and part of me that was connecting on a whole new level, one that I had been wanting to connect with them on, a sort of fantastic magical level. And now, I want more of that connection...I want to connect with people on a deeper level. And I wanna be able to see all those other things I’m interested in, but slowly and differently. Joanne is about living every day as if it’s my last. My father’s sister died when she was 19—that was Joanne, my aunt. This was the center of the pain in my family. Growing up, I never understood what the tears of my family were about.”

On her passion for horses:
“I guess, when I moved to California, the sunlight was really good for me—I was happy. The sunshine helped to keep an optimism in my music. And while out there, I developed a special connection to horses. It began when my record label gave me a horse for my birthday: an Arabian mare named Arabella. I had never taken a horse-riding lesson. I literally did not know how to ride a horse. But I just grabbed her by the mane and rode her bareback...She’s so well-trained that when I was about to fall off her, she stepped to the side to collect me. I also got her a boyfriend, Trigger—a stallion—because I didn’t want her to be alone. With him, I have to ride with a saddle. When I ride him, it always makes me feel so powerful, because he is so powerful. There’s no pressure. I just get on the horse and go. It’s sort of a metaphor for all the guys I’ve been with.

...My body’s been through a lot over the years. Riding has forced me to be fearless pretty quickly. It’s all about down here, in that woman area. Balance, strength, persistence. I go on trails, ride, gallop, I’m not a ‘planning’ type of horse rider. I wake up, write songs, go for a ride. It’s all so antithetical to the me when I’m in NY, having grown up here. I went out today in Manhattan. It was pouring, but with my newfound appreciation of the city, I said to everybody, ‘Hey, isn’t it great!’”

On what she'll do after the interview:
“No, I’ll go home. I’ll listen to music, play the piano, probably stay up until around three. Normally, I wake up and go to the studio when I’m in NYC, but I happen to have the day off tomorrow.”

Manson Family Member Found Eligible For Parole

People reports that former Manson Family member Leslie Van Houten has been found suitable for parole after being imprisoned since 1978. Van Houten is the youngest of the Manson Family, and was convicted of the brutal 1969 slaying of Leon and Rosemary La Bianca. Van Houten was not present at the Tate murders. The parole recommendation will now go to the Board of Parole to be reviewed, a process that takes up to 120 days. If it passes that step, the recommendation will be sent to California Governor Jerry Brown, which takes an additional 30 days. Unsurprisingly, relatives of the La Biancas are vehemently against the recommendation, stating: “No member of the Manson family deserves parole, ever. Blind Gossip Exclusive Blind Item - Flip The Last Flop

When a celebrity couple owns multiple homes, it’s not unusual for them to buy or sell a new one every few years.

But what does it mean when an actor and actress sells off all of their homes in a short period of time?

Trouble!

"They used to love the whole process of buying and renovating and flipping. At first it was fun and easy. Then it was just fight after fight. After renovations, they actually lost money on [three out of four projects] and they were blaming each other. It got so bad that they were finally like, “That’s it! Fuck it! We’re done! Sell them all!” They have plenty of money but they are definitely having marital problems fighting over that money."

So, what happens after they flip the last flop? Do they stop fighting? Or do they divorce?

Kardashian Korner

It was announced on Us Weekly a while back, and never confirmed. But now it's official! People reports that Kim Kardashian West, 36, and Kanye West, 40, are expecting their third child, via surrogate. The couple are already parents to daughter North, 4, and son Saint, almost 2. A source had this to say of the news:

“The entire family is over the moon. Kim had been looking for a surrogate for months until recently when she found the perfect candidate. Given her health scares in the past, Kim felt the need to hire a surrogacy agency that helped serve as the liaison in finding a healthy woman who would be a great surrogate option for her and Kanye. Both of them have been super involved in the process. They want everything to be perfect and for the baby to be extremely healthy. They don’t want any complications and Kim is providing an ideal eating regimen and diet so everyone knows what the baby is consuming before it’s born.”

In other Kardashian news, Page Six reports that Scott Disick was placed on a 5150 psych hold last month. The LAFD was called out to Disick's Hidden Hills home on August 18th at 5pm, and he was transported to a local hospital. Disick was not held for the full 72 hours (as is eligible under a 5150). Disick seems to be recovering okay, as he was spotted with children Penelope and Mason over Labor Day Weekend.

And finally, Khloe Kardashian has written an essay for Glamour reflecting back on 10 years of doing Keeping Up With the Kardashians. Here is an excerpt:

"In 2007 my sister Kourtney and I were living together in a townhouse in Calabasas, California, where we grew up. We were running our clothing store, Dash, and our kids’ store, Smooch, right next to each other in the mall. We were there every day, and we had no other employees: We did everything ourselves, from the taxes to the housekeeping and inventory. We would take our 15-minute lunch break together and eat in the back.

At my mom’s house, we’d always have these big family dinners. Ryan Seacrest came to one and was like, “You guys are crazy. You need to be on TV.” My mom and my sister Kim wanted to do the show, but Kourtney and I were really against it. We were like, “No—we love our little life. We love what we’re doing.” But Ryan said, “We need the whole family or nobody at all.” So my mom kind of sold it to us as a great commercial for our stores. We were like, “Ugh, fine.” I remember we found two girls who worked across the street from us and asked them to run Dash and Smooch for three days while we shot.

The first thing we ever filmed was a barbecue at my mom’s house. That was our pilot, I guess you could call it. A barbecue! We didn’t know what the hell we were doing. We had seen The Osbournes and The Simple Life, but The Osbournes was more security-camera-footage style, very raw. The Simple Life was all about Paris and Nicole being out of their environment. Our show, at first, was like a very modern-day Brady Bunch—a little gimmicky and with a takeaway each episode. People would say, “I’ve never seen a family cuss each other out, or go through the things you go through, and still be in love with each other.” But that was just our twist on the dorkiness of having this blended family that all gets along.

...Now our lives have evolved. We film six days a week, 12 to 18 hours a day, every single day. When you compile that much footage into 13 or 14 44-minute episodes, you can find a lot of drama. Not every episode is juicy to us; it’s only juicy to the audience. Things like Kim’s robbery or Caitlyn’s transition? That’s the kind of stuff we wish we had never filmed. We aren’t ever like, “Oooh! Let’s do this for season nine.” This is our life, and these are the things that happen. And it’s funny—when we decide not to shoot things, people feel slighted. But when we film too much, they’re like, “Oh, you never should have filmed that.” It’s a catch-22.

We never could have fathomed the longevity of the show—that we would film 14 seasons and a handful of spin-offs. I don’t think anybody could have. When it comes to our drama, we are a large, blended family. If you put a microscope over any family for 10 years, you’re bound to find cracks in the foundation. That’s just the name of the game, and we’re strong enough to endure it.

We are by nature vulnerable and open people. And I think it’s a gift to be that way. I know a lot of people who are superb actors, who could act the fuck out of a role, but they could never be themselves in front of a camera—it would be too much to have people tear them apart or judge them. I totally get that, but this is what we do. And we do it together. This is what we’ve chosen, and we’ve chosen to be as raw and honest as we can."

We’ve talked about this musician’s little drug problem before. Let’s get more serious.

"He has been to rehab twice in the past three years. He walked out both times in less than a week.

He is addicted to pain pills and codeine and heroin. He injects the H into his feet so you can’t see the track marks. It’s an old school thing.

He has OD’d several times. He just had another OD. He left the hospital in one day."

Carey Mulligan Talks Acting Regrets

Carey Mulligan recently sat down for an interview with Variety, where she talked about her role in The Great Gatsby. Here's what she had to say:

“I didn’t love my work in ‘Gatsby.’ I’m not sure if I slight kind of lost my way because I was intimidated by the scale of it. I think I might have been overawed by my experience and intimidated by the level of performances around me. It was how big it was and how visual it was. I definitely felt there were fleeting moments where I really found the character and then I felt like I lost her a little bit. I’ve never been wholly thrilled about my work in it.

It was almost like this ‘America’s Got Talent’ casting thing around the role. And then it was the expectation of playing the part. I love the character so much and I spent so much time preparing. It might not have translated onto the screen. I think I let my own security get in my own way. In that respect, I wish I could do it again. It was just a tricky one. Maybe I tried to put too many things in and they ended up blurring. And maybe I could have been more specific. I found the world so fascinating in Zelda and Ginevra King and everything around F.Scott Fitzgerald and their relationship.”

On not liking to watch herself onscreen:
“I’m terrible and sitting through. About a year [after Drive came out], I was on an airplane, and I was like, ‘Fuck it. I’m going to watch it because so many people really liked it.’cI got about 20 minutes in and the air hostess walk past me and I was on the screen, and I was like, ‘I can’t be the person watching my own film.’ So I turned it off and put on some other shit film.”

Alanis Morissette Opens Up About Postpartum Depression

Alanis Morissette revealed in the latest issue of People that she suffers from postpartum depression. Here's what she had to say:

“There are days I’m debilitated to the point where I can barely move. As a kid, I imagined having children and being with an amazing partner. This is a whole other wrench I didn’t anticipate...It’s very isolating. I’m used to being the Rock of Gibraltar, providing, protecting and maneuvering. It had me question everything. I’ve known myself to be a really incredible decision-maker and a leader that people can rely on. [Now] I can barely decide what to eat for dinner.

...“My main priority is that I want to make sure both of my children are loved and bonded with and provided for. Poor Souleye sometimes gets the dregs of my exhaustion at the end of the night. Even holding hands at this point is a deeply intimate experience...I set him up to win as often as I can. He’s doing the best he can. I just basically say to him, ‘There’s an end to this, and I’m in the middle of it. I’m so sorry for not being able to be who you typically know me to be.’

On why she is speaking out:
“The stigma remains in a really big way. There’s this version of eye contact that I have with women who have been through postpartum depression where it’s this silent, ‘Oh my God, I love you. I’m so sorry.’...There are people who are like, ‘Where’s the old Alanis?’ and I just think, ‘Well, she’s in here. She’s having a minute.’ I just know that there’s a light at the end of the tunnel and try not to beat myself up.”

She has taken the semester off from classes at The King's University, and her last tour date for the year will be October 7 (all other 2017 dates are being postponed), as she will begin cancer treatment this Fall.

...We will continue to keep fans updated on Jo Dee's journey and appreciate the outpouring of love, prayers, and support she has already received."

Jesse Williams Custody Update

TMZ reports that Jesse Williams and soon-to-be-ex-wife Aryn Drake-Lee have reached a temporary custody agreement. The pair will have joint legal custody of their two children, meaning all decisions about the childrens' health, welfare, and upbringing will be joint decisions. No word on the physical custody breakdown. Additionally, the agreement states that neither Jesse nor Aryn can make derogatory comments about the other in front of their children, or use the children as messengers. And neither parent "shall introduce a person with who he or she has a romantic relationship to the children until the relationship has endured at least 6 months." Hmm, well the couple filed for divorce at the end of April, so unless Jesse is going to publicly admit cheating on his wife, looks like Minka Kelly is going to have to wait a few more months to meet the kids.

Reese Witherspoon Talks Ambition

Reese Witherspoon is on the cover of Glamour Magazine. Here's what she had to say in the accompany essay that she penned for the issue:

"I worked for a long time on my speech for Women of the Year. At the time, I was reading a lot of articles about how people find ambition in women to be a negative trait. There was a Columbia University study that concluded that a woman with ambitious traits seemed selfish and less worthy of being hired than a man with the same traits, which made me wonder, What the heck is wrong with being ambitious? I have been ambitious all my life. In fact, I vividly remember telling my third-grade teacher that I wanted to be the first female president of the United States. Ambition is simply a drive inside of you—it’s having a curiosity or a new idea and the desire to pursue it. I asked the audience a question that night in Carnegie Hall: What if all women were encouraged to be a bit more ambitious?

...We have seen a lot of ambitious women at work since I gave that speech in 2015. It’s been exciting for me to watch women in my business secure some major wins: Watching Felicity Jones play a great female protagonist in Rogue One felt phenomenal (and the film made over $1 billion at the global box office). Patty Jenkins and Gal Gadot powered Wonder Woman to tremendous box office success—those are the kinds of movies I wanted to see as a little girl. Stories with powerful women at the center.
But to be honest, in the past two years, there have also been days when I’ve seen what’s playing out in the news for women and felt completely hopeless. I get defeated when I see news that major corporations are paying top male executives significantly more than top female executives, or that women are marching for the same rights they were marching for 45 years ago. It definitely feels backward for women to be fighting for fundamental health care. I mean…really? If our representatives value women’s health in this country as much as they claim they do, how can they even contemplate denying women access to cervical or breast cancer screenings? You can’t help our kids, our country, or our future if you don’t take care of women. That feels pretty simple to me.

But I am a glass-half-full person. I’ll tell you why.

I remember, 15 years ago, being a young actress and starting to audition for movies in L.A. There were always a lot of young women waiting in the green room for their shot at the one part there was for a girl in any given movie. Because that’s all there was—one part. As I got some of those parts, I would arrive on set to realize I was the only girl with a speaking part. There were also no women in the crew: Maybe a girl or two in the wardrobe department, but no one in any other department. I was literally surrounded by 150 men. I remember thinking it was odd that women made up half the population but such small percentages of roles in Hollywood, on and off the screen.

Fast-forward to today, and I have never been on the job with so many women, ever. Women ran the sets of the next two movies I’m appearing in. On Home Again I was lucky enough to work with Nancy Meyers—one of the most successful female writers, directors, and producers of our time, who has made some of my favorite movies, from The Intern to Something’s Gotta Give to Father of the Bride—and her daughter, Hallie Meyers-Shyer, the 30-year-old first-time filmmaker who wrote and directed the movie. I really related to the character Hallie created, a separated mother of two kids who is struggling with a central question (which is one my friends and I talk about all the time): Is this the life you’re supposed to be living? It was amazing to watch a mother-daughter creative team be in charge of every department, keeping all the trains running on time. The second film is A Wrinkle in Time, which was written by Jennifer Lee, who wrote Frozen, and directed by Ava DuVernay, who directed the award-winning films Selma and 13th..."

"I knew, and Ryan knew, we all knew, that for me in particular, leaving Glee would be emotionally really hard. I think that Ryan definitely wanted to create something for me so that I could jump into something right away to really help that transition."

On her comedic icons:
"I grew up being the biggest fan of Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, and these women have had such incredible careers in television and comedy, and so I wanted something that felt similar in that sort of trajectory for me."

On politics:
"I have to watch [it], because I feel like I'm quite an outspoken person, and I do need to sort of hold myself back, especially with talking about politics in general, just because I feel that it is such a sensitive subject, especially with what's going on in our world right now...I'm not the most politically savvy person. But playing this character, I've brushed up on my politics as much as possible. Although I can't even stand turning on the television anymore, it's like a circus."
