Edward Herrmann Has Passed Away
Many of you heard about this the other day, but he still deserves a post of his own. Emmy and Tony-award winning actor Edward Herrmann has passed away from brain cancer at the age of 71. Many of us remember him from his parts in Annie and Overboard, and others remember him from his time on Gilmore Girls. The creator of Gilmore Girls, Amy Sherman-Palladino, spoke to TV Line about Herrmann, and gave them the following anecdote. As quoted by TV Line:
"When we were casting the part of Richard on Gilmore Girls, we all sat around saying, ‘If we could only get Ed Herrmann.’ So we sent the script to his agent who said Ed will come in and meet, but he won’t read. We said fine — great. Set it up. The agent said, ‘But I need you to understand — he will not read.’ We said we get it — no reading. The agent said, ‘He’s Ed Herrmann. He’s worked with Woody Allen! He was in Reds! He will not, under any circumstances, read!’ We were like ‘Hey, if he’ll even sit down and talk to us, we’d be honored.’ So Ed came in. He sat down and said, ‘I like it. It’s funny. Should I read?’ We sat there in stunned silence as Ed opened the script and proceeded to read. And just like that, Richard Gilmore was sitting in front of us. And that’s when I knew this show was charmed… To our patriarch, I thank you. I miss you. And I could never repay you."

Taylor Swift Top Seller in 2014
It was a race to the finish, but the Hollywood Reporter reveals that Taylor Swift edged out the Frozen Soundtrack to be the year's top-selling album. Swift's 1989 sold 3.66 million copies, while the Frozen Soundtrack sold 3.53 million. Frozen was in the lead all year, up until the final week of tracking. This is the first time in history that an album was the year's top seller in every week leading up to the end of the year, only to lose in the final week of counting. Beyoncé came in at number 6. Kaley Cuoco Backtracks On Anti-Feminist Sentiments
Kaley Cuoco caused a stir recently when she talked about her views on feminism with Redbook. In case you missed it, the Daily Mail quotes Cuoco as saying the following:
"Is it bad if I say no? It's not really something I think about. Things are different now, and I know a lot of the work that paved the way for women happened before I was around...I was never that feminist girl demanding equality, but maybe that's because I've never really faced inequality. I cook for Ryan five nights a week; it makes me feel like a housewife; I love that. I know it sounds old-fashioned, but I like the idea of women taking care of their men. I'm so in control of my work that I like coming home and serving him. My mom was like that, so I think it kind of rubbed off."
Once the quotes were released, Cuoco faced an immediate backlash. She now seems to be backpedaling on her statements:

Hollywood Hairstylist David Babaii recently sat down with E! to talk about his 135 pound weight loss, and how Gwyneth Paltrow was instrumental in helping him to take off the pounds. Three years ago, he weight 285 pounds, and mentioned to Paltrow while he was doing her hair that he wanted to lose weight. Paltrow non-judgmentally asked him how he wanted to accomplish that, and once hearing his answer, helped him to achieve his goals. Any time that he was hungry and feeling in danger of breaking his diet, he would email Paltrow, and she would reply immediately with a food or recipe suggestion and words of encouragement. With good guidance from Paltrow and a trainer at Equinox, Babaii was able to drop 135 pounds in an insanely short amount of time - just four months! He has been able to keep all of the weight off for the last three years. E! quotes a recent tribute to Paltrow on Babaii's Facebook page:

In light of the Sony hack, here is a vintage Sony Music blind:
After the huge success of his debut solo album, this artist told Sony that he wanted to release his next album as a double CD. They told him no, double albums don't work, and he was under contract. The artist got upset; after all, he had just made Sony an insane amount of money. On one phone call to the artist's manager, a Sony executive stated "Tell that jumped up little f****t to do what he is told." Unbeknownst to the Sony executive, the phone call was recorded by the artist's manager. When the manager played the call back for the artist, the artist went off big time. That is what caused the rift between the artist and Sony, and why the artist wanted to get off the label. For his debut album, the artist let Sony mould his look 100% because Sony promised him that if he had success, they would give him more creative freedom on future albums. He also wanted to come out, which Sony shut down because his fan base was largely comprised of young girls. To add insult to injury, another band released a double CD for Universal Music Group around the same time that the artist's double CD was denied; that band's double CD was a huge success. At that point, the relationship between the artist and Sony was beyond repair, and Sony finally released him from his contract. There is a lot of symbolism about the rift in one of the artist's music videos for his second album.

There was a large and very demanding party there that night, and when the bill came, they stiffed the waitress on the tip. The singer noticed what happened, and not only did he tip generously on his own bill, he found out from the manager what the tally was for the large party, and left an additional generous tip for the party's tab. You probably wouldn't be able to identify the singer by name on his own, but he recorded a song with this female A list Pop/R&B singer in early 2013 that one awards show named 2014 Song of the Year. The song also bumped the A list singer up a notch on Billboard's Most Top 10 Singles List.

Teresa Giudice's New Year's Resolutions
Teresa Giudice has until January 5th to turn herself in to begin serving her 15 month jail sentence. She recently made a YouTube video with her friend and Real Housewives of New Jersey co-star Dina Manzo detailing her New Year's Resolutions. Here they are:
1) Avoid bad carbs (I don't think they do gluten-free in prison)
2) Work on her ass (She'll probably get time to exercise in the yard)
3) Keep being around positive people (Would we call fellow prisoners positive people?)
4) Spend more time with Dina (Hard to do with those short visiting hours)
Well, one out of four ain't bad.

Us Weekly has an update on the virus(es) plaguing Lindsay Lohan. She is battling Chikungunya, a rare, untreatable virus. The virus is transmitted by mosquitoes, and the symptoms include fever, joint pain, fatigue, and a rash. Apparently the joint pain can last for months. Not sure whether or not Lohan is currently claiming to be sober; if not, she surely has an endless supply of pills to help cope with the joint pain.

Christine Cavanaugh has passed away at the age of 51, The LA Times reports. The voice actress gave life to many iconic characters, including Babe the pig, Dexter from Dexter's Laboratory, and Chuckie from Rugrats. Cavanaugh was originally from Utah. After divorcing her husband Kevin, she retired from acting in 2001 and moved back to Utah.

'Tis the season to break up! TMZ is the first to report that Slash has filed for divorce from his wife of 13 years, Perla Hudson. Perla flew to Hawaii with the couple's two sons London, 12, and Cash, 10, on Sunday, and told Slash that he had until New Year's to fix things. Apparently he declined her offer. Like Chris Rock, Slash had also filed for divorce from his wife before; he drew up divorce documents in 2010, but the couple reconciled. Expect this to be another acrimonious divorce, as Perla is also Slash's manager.
The Jeremy Renner Divorce
TMZ is reporting that Jeremy Renner's wife, Sonni Pacheco, has filed for divorce. I know what you're thinking. Jeremy Renner was married?! Yes it's true. The couple have been married for ten months, and share a 1-year-old daughter, Ava Berlin. Oh, wait. So this is the surrogate? I thought she was his surrogate? At any rate, this is firming up to be one ugly divorce. There is a prenup in place, but Pacheco has alleged that it is invalid because it is based on fraud. I think we all know what the fraud is. Strangely, she is also alleging that Renner stole her passport, birth certificate, and social security card, and is demanding their return.

Have you ever noticed the way that the significant relationships of these siblings are spun? They are perpetually the objects of desire… and the victims of cruel heartbreak.
They never pursue anyone. The other person is always chasing them, begging them to be exclusive, pushing them to get married.
They are never at fault when the relationship doesn’t work. The other person is always the damaged/cheating/controlling/bad person.
They always pretend that they tried their best to make things work, but that bad other person always fails them and disappoints them and breaks their heart.
You can find examples in every one of their past and current relationships. In fact, you’ll see this same spin happening during the next breakup.
Of course it’s all BS. They are just as damaged and cheating and controlling and awful as their significant others. In some cases, even more so. However, they have a strong marketing team and the stories are spun from their perspective to make them seem innocent and worthy of your sympathy. It’s the classic good guys/bad guys scenario. And if you are still watching, they believe it’s because you see them as the good guys!

Man Charged For Hitting J Lo From The Back
Back in September, Jenny from the Block was chilling at a stoplight in her Rolls Royce with her two kids and Leah Remini when she was rear ended by a drunk driver, Page Six reports. The Las Vegas resident was finally charged with a DUI yesterday; he was nearly twice the legal limit. If convicted, he will face six months in jail and a $1,000 fine.

Ashlee Simpson Changing Name
Both Ashlee Simpson and her new husband Evan Naess are changing their names! TMZ reports that the couple will both be getting the hyphenate Ross-Naess as their last name. Publicly, Evan already goes by the last name Ross, although he legally has only his father's last name. The son and daughter-in-law of Diana Ross should be able to garner some better dinner reservations once the name change takes effect.
Chris Rock Divorce Turns Nasty
Chris Rock's divorce filing was just announced, and things are already turning nasty! In the divorce filing obtained by TMZ, Rock claims that his wife Malaak has been preventing him from seeing his two daughters. The Rocks do have a prenup, but it may be expired due to the length of their union. The couple have been working toward the split since November when they began identifying their community property. Rock also seems to be paving the way to lowering any spousal support; he points out in the filing that Malaak is "(able) to work and contribute to her own support."

With its release called into question, The Interview was finally made available online on Christmas Eve, only to become Sony's top grossing online movie release of all time. The Huffington Post reports that the movie generated more than $15 million dollars in its first four days of release. Disneyland is apparently not the happiest place on Earth for Christina Aguilera. TMZ reports that when she went to the theme park for her birthday and wanted to take a picture with some of the characters, she became agitated when she found out that Mickey Mouse is allowed to take breaks. The nerve! She shouted at the overgrown rodent, "Don't you know who I am?!" Since Mickey did know who she was, he proceeded to take his scheduled break instead of sticking around to take pictures with the blonde bimbette and her crew.
